Overview

Child care volunteers play a crucial role in the lives of the children they work with by serving as positive role models, providing daily interaction to help them develop social and emotional skills, and encouraging creative learning through play and structured activities. Volunteers provide support at orphanages, day care centers, kindergarden and special needs centres.

Whether you volunteer at an orphanage in Ghana or a daycare center in Thailand, you help provide a bit of extra support to children and their families who don’t have access to private care.

Volunteer responsibilities

  • Assisting with reading, writing, mathematics and arts and crafts
  • Supervising children during play times and organizing fun activities
  • Preparing food and supervising children during meals
  • Teaching English and helping with homework

Who can volunteer?

No special skills are needed. However, our Child Care projects are best suited for those who enjoy working with young children, are patient and have a desire to serve as a positive role model.

What about the schedule?

Volunteers working on our Child Care projects typically work 6 hours a day, 4 days a week from Monday to Thursday. Your specific working hours will depend on the project site that you choose.
