I had a ton of questions beforehand and she answered them all and was so welcoming when I finally arrived in Costa Rica.

I ended up having some flight issues but she was able to work around them no problem to help make the rest of my trip simply amazing! Upon arriving at the turtle project, the staff and other volunteers were so friendly, I was able to easily fit in and learn what I had to do quickly.

When I had decided I wanted to volunteer internationally and make a positive difference, uVolunteer was the best choice to be able to make this a reality.

I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity and would do it all again in heartbeat. I have definitely grown as a person from the things I have learnt and challenges I have overcome.

Through uVolunteer, I originally decided on the Natural Parks and Reserves project, but changed my mind shortly before I was to leave, and Ligia was so amazing and supportive in the whole process.

I was shown around the house, the beach and my new work (the turtle hatchery) and what to do and had my first shift that night! The project house was right on the beach and when I did not work shifts at the turtle hatchery, I was able to spend my time touring, swimming and visiting other places close by to see more while I was there. I travelled to waterfalls and swam on a beach entirely of seashells! The country is so beautiful that sometimes you can hardly believe your eyes!

The other volunteers I met there also made my stay so much more enjoyable. There were people from all around the world there and I had so much fun working and seeing the sights of Costa Rica with them.

This program also gives you the opportunity to be fully immersed in the culture around you immediately, from the food, to the language; to the attitudes of the people and soon all the volunteers were living the ‘Pura Vida’ life!

I am so sad my time in Costa Rica is over, but if you are thinking of going away to volunteer, choose uVolunteer and you definitely will not regret it! Because of this amazing program, I had a wonderful experience with such supportive and friendly staff and workers. Thank you Ligia and Roger for making my time there such a memorable one!

At the end of my program, I left this report for uVolunteer. I hope it helps future volunteers have a good understanding of the uVolunteer program. I've also allowed uVolunteer to give out my email address to those interested in asking me questions about my trip and the uVolunteer program.
