There was some small trouble with the showers, but that was fixed promptly.

I like the on-demand water heaters so that we never run out of hot water. There may have been some small confusion about how many people were staying here, because one of the beds did not have a blanket or pillow, but that was remedied quickly.

Arrivals: No problems traveling to SJO in Costa Rica, and we were met promptly by uVolunteer staff and there was no wait for the van to take us to San Ramon. We were shown everything we needed to know about the house/dorm and a delicious hot meal was waiting for us.

Orientation:

Although we were eager to get started working, it was so good to see San Ramon and helpful for us to ease into the cultural surroundings. Lunch was great and the sightseeing was a pleasant diversion.

Accommodation: The house/ dorm was pleasant, clean, and safe. There was some small trouble with the showers, but that was fixed promptly. I like the on-demand water heaters so that we never run out of hot water. There may have been some small confusion about how many people were staying here, because one of the beds did not have a blanket or pillow, but that was remedied quickly. It has been wonderful to have home-cooked meals twice each day, and the food is fabulous. Our Tica house-mother is a wonderful lady always greeting us with a smile and helping us with our Spanish language.

The Project: The work at the community center was a good mix of improvement projects (painting) and activities for the children. The kids are wonderful, fun, always smiling, and I hope we helped them to have fun and enjoy a few days with us. The staff at the center was very helpful and seemed to appreciate our work. This project was a good match for our skills and interests.

Finally: Thanks uVolunteer for everything you did for us, and for helping us to have a successful week!!

At the end of my program, I left this report for uVolunteer. I hope it helps future volunteers have a good understanding of the uVolunteer program. I've also allowed uVolunteer to give out my email address to those interested in asking me questions about my trip and the uVolunteer program.
